In 2017, I started learning about the pet food industry. Like any good pet parent, I wanted to make sure that my dog Dylan was eating the healthiest food possible. Unfortunately, I discovered that most big-name pet food brands contain preservatives, highly processed food, and other unhealthy ingredients. If I wouldn’t put those ingredients in my own body, why would I feed them to my dog?
Around this same time, I had just finished culinary school and decided to channel my frustration into something positive: I would create my own dog food recipe so pet owners could finally have a healthy option.
After years of fine-tuning my recipe and going through product development, I was ready to produce and distribute my product. But just before distributing, I happened to make a major change to my own diet. I stopped consuming animal products and shifted toward a plant-based diet. After noticing the incredible positive effects on my health, I switched Dylan’s diet as well.
At this point, I knew what I had to do: reformulate my dog food recipe so that it was 100% free of animal products. With the help of a veterinarian nutritionist, we created plant-based dog food that provides the essential nutrients every dog needs to thrive.
